How WEBNEWS collects, uses, and safeguards your information.
Last updated: July 24, 2026
WEBNEWS (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the WEBNEWS bilingual (ಕನ್ನಡ + English) technology news website (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information you provide. When you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address. When you use the Contact page we collect the name, email and message you submit. If you register as an advertiser or staff member, we collect your account details (name, email and a password, which is stored only in hashed form).
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically receive standard log data such as pages viewed, referring pages, approximate region, browser and device type, and the date and time of your visit. We use this to understand which stories are read and to keep the Service secure.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (such as government IDs, financial account numbers, or health information).
We use cookies and similar technologies to remember your language preference (Kannada / English) and to measure site traffic through privacy-respecting analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some features (such as remembering your language) may then not work as expected.
WEBNEWS publishes its own headlines, summaries and links to third-party platforms — including Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp — using those platforms’ official APIs, in order to distribute our news. We do not collect your personal data from these platforms for this purpose beyond what is necessary to publish our own posts.
When you interact with WEBNEWS content on a third-party platform (for example, following our Facebook Page or Instagram account, or clicking a share button), that interaction is governed by that platform’s own privacy policy — for Facebook and Instagram, the Meta Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review the policies of any platform you use.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information only in these situations:
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe; contact messages are retained only as long as needed to handle your request.
You may, at any time:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the Contact page or email editor@webnews.in.
To request deletion of any personal data we hold about you — including any data associated with our Facebook or Instagram integration — email editor@webnews.in or use the Contact page with the subject “Data deletion request”. We will verify and process valid requests within 30 days.
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — such as encrypted (HTTPS) connections and hashed passwords — to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and significant changes will be highlighted here. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, reach us through the Contact page or email editor@webnews.in.
