Army Soldier and Wife Killed in Road Accident Near Manikwadi in Khanapur Taluk

A tragic road accident on the Belagavi-Panaji Highway near Manikwadi Cross in Khanapur taluk claimed the lives of an Indian Army soldier and his wife. The deceased have been identified as Yuvaraj Malik (30), a resident of Jatage village in Khanapur taluk, and his wife Mohini Malik (25). Yuvaraj, who was posted in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, had recently returned to his native village on leave. According to local reports and police sources, the couple had gone to Khanapur town for shopping and was returning home on their motorcycle. A speeding truck collided with their two-wheeler near Manikwadi Cross. Yuvaraj died on the spot due to severe injuries, while Mohini sustained critical wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The untimely demise of the young couple has sent shockwaves across Jatage village and the surrounding rural areas of Khanapur taluk. The last rites of Yuvaraj Malik and Mohini Malik were performed in Jatage village with state honours, attended by local residents, military representatives, and taluk administration officials. Khanapur police have registered a case against the truck driver and initiated a formal investigation into the collision.
