Bengaluru Metro Pink Line's 7.5-km Elevated Stretch Ready for Inauguration in September

The 7.5-kilometer elevated segment of Namma Metro's Pink Line (Line 4), connecting Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere along Bannerghatta Road, has completed construction and is ready for public commercial operations. State officials are currently awaiting an official inauguration date from the Union Government in September 2026. Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, accompanied by Bengaluru South MP Tejaswi Surya, local MLA M. Krishnappa, and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director P.C. Jafar, conducted an extensive trial inspection from Jayadeva Station to Kalena Agrahara. During the inspection, officials evaluated station infrastructure and inspected the new six-coach trains delivered by BEML Limited. Commuters along the heavily congested Bannerghatta Road corridor have experienced persistent traffic delays for years, making the early launch of this elevated corridor critical for local transit relief. BMRCL officials confirmed that statutory rolling stock approvals from the Ministry of Railways and safety clearances from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) are scheduled to be finalized within 15 days. Once operational, the stretch will provide direct transit access to key educational and medical institutions, including IIM Bangalore and Jayadeva Hospital. The full 21.25-kilometer Pink Line will eventually extend to Nagawara, comprising 18 stations. While the elevated Phase 1 section begins services shortly, construction on the remaining 13.8-kilometer underground section continues in scheduled phases.
