CM Orders Action After Jevargi Farmers Lose Crop Insurance Due to Society Negligence

During an early-morning inspection at the APMC market in Yeshwanthpur, Deputy Chief Minister and minister in-charge D.K. Shivakumar took direct action on a serious grievance affecting farmers of Jevargi taluk. A farmer from Ittanahalli village in Jevargi taluk met the minister and explained that 93 local farmers had remitted their crop insurance premium payments to a self-help cooperative society. However, due to severe negligence by the society's secretary, the collected funds were never deposited into the District Central Co-operative (DCC) Bank, resulting in the rejection of crop insurance claims for all 93 affected farmers. After reviewing the documents and verifying the list of farmers who had paid their insurance premiums, Shivakumar expressed strong displeasure over the administrative lapse. He immediately instructed officials to dismiss the secretary of the self-help cooperative society responsible for failing to remit the money.
