Defence Ministry Holds 15th DITCC Meeting to Advance Indigenous IT and Chip Manufacturing Capabilities

Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth chaired the 15th meeting of the Defence Information Technology Consultative Committee (DITCC) in New Delhi, organised by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS). The consultative meeting brought together senior officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, alongside prominent domain experts from academia and industry. The meeting focused on accelerating self-reliance (Aatma-Nirbharta) in defence information technology and systematically adopting advanced technology enablers into defence operations. Crucial policy deliberations addressed the changing paradigm of modern warfare and the strategic necessity of deploying disruptive digital technologies. Key decisions taken during the meeting included approving plans for the indigenisation of advanced semiconductor chip manufacturing, the development of a sovereign operating system and database for defence applications, and the strategic siting of robust data centres tailored for national security needs. The approved projects aim to enhance the operational resilience of the Indian Armed Forces while furthering broader national technological capabilities under the government's Viksit Bharat roadmap.
