Dr B.R. Ambedkar Morarji Desai Residential School Relocated to Halli Mysore in Holenarsipura Taluk

The Social Welfare Department in Hassan district has temporarily shifted the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Morarji Desai Residential School to Halli Mysore, a major village located in Holenarsipura taluk. The residential school, which educates 172 students comprising 92 boys and 80 girls from Class 6 to Class 10, had been operating out of a rented shed at Shantigrama for nearly five years, for which the department was paying ₹1.08 lakh in monthly rent. The relocation was prompted after reports highlighted the inadequate conditions of running a residential school inside a shed. Although parents initially resisted moving their children away from Shantigrama due to local convenience, officials from the Social Welfare Department, led by Deputy Director Doodpeer, along with local police personnel, conducted a day-long counseling session to explain the improved safety, sanitation, and living standards available at the Halli Mysore facility. Following written consent from parents, authorities deployed three buses to transport all 172 students along with school equipment to the new campus in Halli Mysore. Department officials clarified that the move to Holenarsipura taluk is a temporary measure for about six months until the school's permanent building currently under construction at Shantigrama is completed and inaugurated.
