Researchers have formally identified Leopardus tilcayo, a small wild cat inhabiting Bolivia’s Yungas cloud forests, marking the first time a new living feline species has been described in more than a century. The discovery, published in Current Biology, relies on genomic data confirming the animal is genetically distinct.
