Education Ministry Reviews 95% Files Under Cleanliness Drive, Prepares for Special Campaign 6.0

The Department of Higher Education (DoHE) under the Union Ministry of Education has reported significant administrative efficiency outcomes under 'Special Campaign 5.0', having reviewed 95.2% (2,04,859) of its physical files and 87.46% (62,564) of its electronic files across 1,159 sites nationwide. According to official statistics released by the ministry, the record-management and cleanliness drive successfully freed up 14,44,839 square feet of office space across centrally funded higher education institutions and administrative offices. Furthermore, the department generated ₹6.89 crore in revenue through the systematic disposal of office scrap materials. In addition to digitising over 3,312 files, the department weeded out or closed 90,629 outdated physical and electronic files to streamline record management. Building on these results, the Department of Higher Education is launching 'Special Campaign 6.0', scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The preparatory phase, which commenced on September 15 and runs through September 30, involves target setting by heads of centrally funded institutions, the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The upcoming campaign will maintain a strong focus on e-waste management, space optimisation, disposal of public grievances, and maintaining clean, transparent workplace environments in higher educational administrative hubs.
