Extracurricular Activities and Fresher Orientation Inaugurated at Kokatnur Government College in Athani Taluk

The Government First Grade College in Kokatnur village of Athani taluk hosted a student orientation and inauguration event for its various extracurricular units, including the National Service Scheme (NSS), Rovers and Rangers, Youth Red Cross, and sports and cultural wings. The program was organized to officially welcome the new batch of first-year Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), and Bachelor of Science (BSc) students for the academic session. Speaking after inaugurating the event, youth leader Chidanand Savadi highlighted the importance of co-curricular and extracurricular activities alongside academic pursuits. He noted that active participation in student organizations such as NSS and Red Cross fosters leadership qualities, personal discipline, civic responsibility, and a spirit of community service among youth. Savadi urged young minds to stay aware of societal challenges and contribute constructively toward rural development and nation-building. Senior literary figure Dr. Balasaheb Lokapur, KPCC member Shyamrao Pujari, and college faculty member Dr. Prabhakar Khyadi also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the role of higher education institutions in rural taluks like Athani. They encouraged incoming students to utilize all state-provided facilities and campus opportunities to build successful careers while upholding ethical values.
