Fatal Highway Crash Near Bellur Cross in Nagamangala Claims Life, Injures Four

A fatal road accident occurred on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-75) near Tavarekere Gate, close to Bellur Cross and the Nelligere Toll Plaza in Nagamangala taluk, Mandya district, on Sunday afternoon, September 6, 2026. A speeding Toyota Hilux pickup truck rammed into a Swift Dzire car from behind while attempting a high-speed overtake. The severe impact resulted in the instant death of 58-year-old Sudha Jain, a resident of Bengaluru originally from Gujarat, who was seated in the rear of the car. Four other family members travelling from Shravanabelagola back to Bengaluru sustained injuries and were rushed to Adichunchanagiri Hospital in B.G. Nagar for emergency medical care. Additionally, a local petrol bunk owner from Tavarekere village suffered a leg fracture when debris from the collision struck him. The entire sequence was recorded on the dashboard camera of a trailing vehicle. Following the collision, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Officers from the Bellur Police Station arrived promptly at the spot, seized both vehicles, and registered a case.
