At a special event titled 'Drudha Karnatakada Sankalpa' held at Vidhana Soudha, Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar unveiled an ambitious socio-economic roadmap targeting to elevate the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to $1 trillion by 2037. Celebrating 100 days of the administration, Shivakumar stated that the state's GDP has already reached ₹32.81 lakh crore with an 8.1% growth rate, outperforming the national average.
As part of the initiative, the Chief Minister announced major policy measures focused on housing, education, and land reforms. In the initial phase, the state plans to distribute 5 lakh residential sites to houseless rural families. To boost public education, 1,000 government schools will be upgraded into Karnataka Public Schools at the gram panchayat level with financial support from the World Bank and corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds. Furthermore, the government proposed a 7.5% reservation in higher education for rural students who completed their schooling in government institutions.
Shivakumar also highlighted land reforms as the government's 'sixth guarantee', revealing that 26 lakh property records in Bengaluru are being digitized. Investment projects worth ₹43,214 crore were approved during the first 100 days, reflecting the state's strategy to balance rapid industrial growth with rural empowerment, water security, and infrastructure advancement.
