The Karnataka Health Department is embarking on a significant e-Health project aimed at revolutionizing public healthcare across the state through extensive digitization. This ambitious initiative includes the implementation of paperless hospital systems, ensuring broadband internet connectivity across all government health facilities, and establishing tele-ICU services in select hospitals. Health Minister U.T. Khader announced that all Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), and taluk hospitals will be equipped with broadband internet to support seamless digital healthcare operations. The project builds upon a successful pilot of the paperless hospital system in 40 government hospitals across four districts, which will now be expanded to 183 additional government healthcare institutions. The primary goal is to strengthen digital health infrastructure, facilitate electronic health records, improve patient data management, and reduce administrative paperwork, thereby accelerating clinical decision-making. Tele-ICU facilities are particularly crucial for extending specialist care to remote and underserved areas, ensuring critical care access for all citizens. This move underscores Karnataka's commitment to leveraging technology for modernizing its healthcare services, enhancing operational efficiency, and guaranteeing better access to quality medical care statewide.
