Karnataka is currently reviewing a substantial investment proposal from Luxembourg-based Innovation Platform Capital (iPC) amounting to ₹83,480 crore. The proposal outlines the establishment of an integrated platform for green hydrogen, renewable energy, and hyperscale data centres, primarily located within the Bengaluru-Tumakuru corridor. This ambitious project is envisioned to unfold in three distinct phases, with the initial phase alone accounting for an investment of ₹17,114 crore. The first phase targets the development of two data centre campuses, each boasting a capacity of 200 MW, totaling 400 MW, alongside a 500 MW green hydrogen and power complex. The entire first phase is projected to require approximately 1,000 acres of land.
The investment plan was discussed during a meeting between Karnataka's Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil and a high-level delegation from iPC, led by its founder and chairman, Gursharan Singh Kundan. The state government views this proposal as a crucial step towards expanding Karnataka's technological footprint beyond Bengaluru and establishing Tumakuru as a significant industrial and digital hub. If approved and implemented, the project is expected to create substantial employment opportunities, introduce cutting-edge technologies, and strengthen the state's position in both the clean energy and digital infrastructure sectors, catering to the growing demands of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and other data-intensive services. However, the project is currently at a conceptual stage and requires various government approvals, land allocations, and other statutory clearances before it can proceed to implementation.
