Imaginary ImageThe Karnataka Cabinet has approved the return of student union elections across universities and colleges starting from the 2026–27 academic year. Political banners and caste-based quotas will be prohibited.
Union Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated a ₹156-crore MSME Technology Centre in Devanahalli, Bengaluru Rural district. The 10-acre facility will focus on the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing sector and aims to train 10,000 individuals annually.
Following widespread protests from environmentalists and opposition parties, the Karnataka government decided to withdraw the Karnataka Government Parks (Preservation) (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The proposed law had allowed diverting up to five percent of parkland for public infrastructure projects.
The Karnataka government has issued an order directing that only the first two stanzas of the national song 'Vande Mataram' be sung at state government functions and official programmes. The directive excludes events attended by top constitutional dignitaries such as the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, or Governor.
