A massive explosion occurred inside a tyre recycling factory located on the outskirts of Kamalapura town in Kalaburagi district, triggering panic among nearby residents. The blast, which took place within the factory premises, produced a deafening sound and intense vibrations that local villagers described as feeling like an earthquake.
Following the explosion, a major fire erupted at the facility, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky as stored rubber materials caught fire. Several workers were inside the factory compound when the explosion occurred, but fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported as workers managed to move to safety in time. Emergency response teams, including fire brigade personnel and officers from the Kamalapura Police Station, rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring areas.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage among local residents, who assembled near the site demanding an immediate halt to tyre-burning and industrial processing activities at the facility, citing severe environmental pollution and safety hazards to surrounding villages. Police officials have registered a case regarding the incident and have initiated an inquiry into the operational compliance and safety standards of the factory.
