Precision Technology Becomes Mainstream for North American Farmers, CNH Report Reveals

A recent 'Farmer Pulse' report from CNH Industrial, a global leader in agricultural equipment and technology, indicates that precision agriculture has become an integral part of farming operations across North America. The inaugural edition of the report, based on a May 2026 survey of 217 farmers and ranchers in the United States and Canada, reveals significant adoption rates and future investment intentions. Specifically, 89% of surveyed farmers currently utilize auto-guidance technology, underscoring its mainstream integration into daily agricultural practices. Furthermore, a substantial 71% of respondents consider precision technology vital to the success of their operations. The study also found that over half (54%) of farmers anticipate investing in additional precision technology within the next two years. This intent is primarily motivated by the promise of reduced input costs, improved labor efficiency, and increased crop yields. While the benefits are clear, the report also identified key barriers to broader adoption, including initial cost (56% of respondents), uncertainty regarding return on investment (36%), and the need for more training (21%). Despite these challenges, the prevailing sentiment suggests a strong recognition of precision agriculture's value, with 62% of farmers reporting that their existing precision technology delivers moderate to extremely high value. This trend highlights a sustained commitment to leveraging technology for more productive, efficient, and sustainable farming.
