To manage the heavy rush of commuters during the upcoming festive season—including Ganesha Chaturthi, Dasara, and Diwali—South Western Railway (SWR) has introduced a weekend special express train service between SSS Hubballi and Chikkamagaluru. Train No. 07341 will depart from Hubballi at 5:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays, reaching Chikkamagaluru at 11:15 AM. The return service, Train No. 07342, will leave Chikkamagaluru at 5:30 PM on the same days and arrive in Hubballi at 11:20 PM. The service operates from September 5 to October 31, 2026.
The special express train passes through several major stations including Haveri, Davanagere, Ajjampura, Birur, Kadur, and Sakharayapatna before reaching Chikkamagaluru. By directly linking North Karnataka with the Malnad region, this temporary service offers convenient travel for plantation workers, traders, students, and tourists visiting the coffee hill district. Local residents and commercial stakeholders in Chikkamagaluru have welcomed the decision, noting that the direct rail link will ease highway congestion and make weekend travel smoother during the peak holiday months.
