T. Narasipura Declared Severely Drought-Hit as Rainfall Deficit Touches 64%; DyCM Reviews Crop Loss

Tirumakudalu Narasipura taluk in Mysuru district has been officially declared severely drought-hit following a critical rainfall deficit of nearly 64 percent during the Kharif season. The acute shortage of monsoon showers has left vast expanses of agricultural fields in T. Narasipura withering, particularly affecting paddy, maize, and sugarcane crops that sustain the rural agrarian economy of the taluk. In response to the escalating agricultural crisis, Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara conducted an extensive field inspection of drought-affected villages across T. Narasipura taluk. Accompanied by local officials and elected representatives, the Deputy Chief Minister assessed the extent of crop loss and reviewed emergency relief measures required to support the local farming community. During a progress review meeting, officials were instructed to prioritize immediate relief operations, including the distribution of emergency fodder kits for livestock, ensuring drinking water supply to affected rural settlements, and expediting crop insurance claim assessments for local farmers. Local farmers' associations in T. Narasipura have intensified their appeals for direct financial compensation for damaged crops, highlighting that agricultural employment under MGNREGA in the taluk has also registered a sharp decline this year. For the residents and agrarian families of T. Narasipura, the official drought declaration and government intervention bring hope for timely relief measures, though urgent execution remains vital to prevent severe economic hardship across the taluk's rural hinterlands.
