Bureau of Indian Standards Seizes ₹5 Crore Electronic Projectors in Bengaluru Raid

In a major enforcement action, the Bengaluru Branch Office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) conducted a search and seizure operation at Zeblaze Solutions LLP in Yelahanka New Town, Bengaluru. The operation, led by senior officials from the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, targeted the illegal misuse of the mandatory BIS Registration Mark. During the raid, officials confiscated 1,350 electronic video projectors marketed under the brand name 'WZATCO', with an estimated market value of ₹5 crore. Investigators revealed that the projectors carried the official BIS Registration Mark without valid authorization, violating key safety and quality provisions under the BIS Act, 2016. The regulatory body emphasized that displaying unverified certification marks misleads consumers and exposes them to potentially hazardous or non-conforming electronic products. Following the recovery, BIS announced that formal criminal prosecution and legal proceedings will be launched against the offending firm. Authorities reaffirmed that routine surveillance and strict anti-counterfeiting crackdowns will continue across Karnataka to protect consumer rights and enforce compliance.
