'Festival of Democracy' Announced as Theme for Mysuru Dasara Flower Show 2026

The Department of Horticulture in Mysuru has announced 'Festival of Democracy' as the central theme for the prestigious Mysuru Dasara Flower Show 2026. Scheduled to take place from October 11 to 20 at Kuppana Park (Nishad Bagh), the flower show is one of the premier cultural attractions of the annual Vijayadashami celebrations in the heritage city. As part of the preparations, the district administration and the horticulture department opened applications starting September 11 for stalls as well as various garden and floral competitions. Competitions will cover multiple categories including home gardens, terrace gardens, potted medicinal and vegetable plants, ornamental potted species, and landscapes within private and government institutions. The Mysuru Dasara Flower Show draws lakhs of tourists from across the country every year, showcasing elaborate floral models, rare botanical displays, and creative garden setups. Selecting 'Festival of Democracy' as the theme aims to highlight civic pride, democratic values, and constitutional heritage through intricate floral art installations during the grand festivity.
