In a major crackdown on illegal child labour, a joint task force comprising officials from multiple government departments conducted surprise inspections across commercial establishments and industrial units in and around Kampli taluk in Ballari district. The drive was launched following explicit directions from the Ballari Deputy Commissioner. Prior to the raids, the Child Labour and Adolescent Labour Task Force Committee convened a strategic planning meeting at the Kampli taluk office to coordinate the operation.
During the inspections, the task force identified five children and adolescents who were engaged in employment across local shops and commercial setups. Officials immediately recorded the statements of the rescued minors at the respective business locations. Following standard legal protocols, all five children were brought before the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to initiate legal action against the employers and arrange appropriate rehabilitation for the youths.
Alongside the enforcement drive, officials actively distributed posters and pamphlets to shop owners, factory management, and trade establishments to educate them about the strict statutory bans on child labour. Key officials involved in the raid included Kampli Taluk Labour Inspector Shivashankar Talwar, District Child Labour Project Director Mounesh, along with representatives from the Social Welfare, Education, Health, Agriculture, and Women and Child Development departments. For local residents and business owners in Kampli, the initiative serves as a stern warning that employing minors carries legal consequences, while reinforcing the administration's commitment to protecting child rights and promoting formal education.
