Greater Bengaluru Authority Launches Nambike Nakshe 2.0 for Automated Building Plan Approvals

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) on September 19, 2026, officially launched 'Nambike Nakshe 2.0', an automated building plan approval system designed to eliminate bureaucratic delays and streamline construction permissions across Bengaluru. Unveiled by Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda under the 'Brand Bengaluru' initiative, the digital system enables eligible residential building plans to receive approvals in approximately 30 minutes, drastically cutting down the earlier waiting period of two to three months. Under the initial phase, the software applies to residential plots up to 50x80 feet (4,000 square feet) catering to a maximum of four dwelling units. The upgraded system operates on a 'Trust, but Verify' principle, trusting empanelled architects and property owners while using technology to cross-verify compliance against town planning regulations. Applicants are required to input their e-Khata number and location data, allowing the system to automatically retrieve ownership details, master plan land-use designations, and property tax compliance without requiring physical paper submissions. By eliminating manual scrutiny by civic officials prior to sanction, the initiative aims to remove routine human intervention, curb red tape, and eliminate intermediaries. Minister Byre Gowda emphasized that technology should remove redundant procedural steps rather than simply moving paperwork online. The pilot program will be reviewed before being rolled out across all zones of the Greater Bengaluru region.
