CM Shivakumar Unveils ₹1,775 Crore Development Package for Kalyana Karnataka Region

In a major infrastructure push for northeastern Karnataka, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar launched 801 development projects valued at ₹1,775.41 crore during the Kalyana Karnataka Utsav in Kalaburagi. The initiatives cover seven districts under the Kalyana Karnataka region, including Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Ballari, Koppal, Bidar, and Vijayanagara, aiming to reduce regional developmental imbalances. As part of the package, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones for 557 new projects estimated at ₹1,071.56 crore and inaugurated 244 completed projects built at a cost of ₹703.85 crore. Kalaburagi district received the lion's share, with 223 projects worth ₹1,105.63 crore. Key highlights include the announcement of a new Information Technology park, a dedicated sports city, AI-enabled CCTV surveillance networks across Kalaburagi, and urban infrastructure upgrades for water supply and road connectivity. Speaking at the event, Minister Priyank Kharge emphasized that the state government is prioritizing sustainable development and employment generation in backward districts under Article 371(J) provisions. The government also reiterated its commitment to educational progress by establishing new Karnataka Public Schools in the region funded through mining revenues and development board grants. The public package is expected to accelerate economic activity and modern civic infrastructure in Kalyana Karnataka.
