India and Germany Deepen Climate Cooperation at 4th Indo-German Environment Forum in New Delhi

The 4th Indo-German Environment Forum was successfully held in New Delhi on September 1, 2026, providing a significant boost to bilateral climate and environmental cooperation. The high-level summit was jointly co-chaired by India’s Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, and Germany’s Federal Minister for Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Carsten Schneider, under the theme "Together For More Resilience". The ministerial dialogue brought together senior government representatives, industry pioneers, research institutions, and civil society delegates from both nations. Technical discussions centered around four key environmental pillars: low-carbon industry transition, biodiversity conservation in wetland and forest ecosystems, circular economy and resource efficiency models, and green finance mobilization. A major milestone of the forum was the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent aimed at strengthening the protection and wise management of wetlands of international importance across both countries. The bilateral engagement reinforces the longstanding environmental partnership established between India and Germany in 2008. As both nations navigate global climate volatility, the forum established concrete mechanisms to facilitate green technology transfers, build workforce green skills, and support low-carbon manufacturing in energy-intensive industrial sectors.
