Karnataka Cabinet Withdraws Controversial Parks Preservation Amendment Bill 2026 Following Public Backlash

Responding to widespread public outrage and intense criticism from environmental advocacy groups, the Karnataka Cabinet resolved to withdraw the Karnataka Government Parks (Preservation) Amendment Bill, 2026. The controversial legislation, which had passed both Houses during the monsoon legislative session, contained provisions allowing state agencies to divert up to 5% of designated government park and garden lands for public infrastructure and civic projects. Deputy Chief Minister G.
