In a significant boost to regional industrial growth and employment, the Karnataka High-Level Clearance Committee has approved 17 major investment proposals totaling ₹29,679 crore. The cleared industrial projects are expected to create approximately 66,360 new jobs across the state. Among the landmark approvals, Vibrancy Renewable Energies will invest ₹2,194.94 crore with a promise of creating 30,000 jobs, while aerospace major Mahindra Aerostructures will deploy ₹2,300 crore into manufacturing operations, creating 3,000 skilled roles.
Parallel to the project approvals, the Karnataka state government reviewed a draft Economic Master Plan for the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region (BMR). Prepared in collaboration with the ISEG Foundation as knowledge partner, the masterplan establishes a strategic roadmap to transform the BMR into a $400 billion economy by the year 2037, up from its current economic output of $149 billion. The region, comprising three districts and home to 16 million residents, currently generates nearly 40% of Karnataka’s Gross State Domestic Product.
The $400 billion roadmap targets the creation of 20 lakh to 25 lakh new jobs across deep-tech manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, and urban logistics. Key structural proposals include transit-oriented developments, private integrated townships, affordable rental housing for gig workers, and a potential second international airport. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar emphasized that rigorous pre-clearance audits and compliance checks will be enforced to ensure investments translate into transparent, sustainable industrial development.
