Ministry of Labour Extends 'Digital Shram Sankalp' AI Hackathon Deadline to September 18

The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment has announced an extension of the deadline for submitting entries to its nationwide Ideation Hackathon, titled 'Digital Shram Sankalp: Reimagining India's Labour Ecosystem with AI', to September 18, 2026. Initially launched on August 5, 2026, the hackathon has received a strong response from tech enthusiasts, researchers, and startups across the country, prompting the government to provide additional time for interested participants to refine and submit their proposals. Hosted on the MyGov Innovate India platform, the initiative aims to leverage emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Digital Public Infrastructure to modernize India's labour governance and employment services. The hackathon centers on 12 key problem statements designed to upgrade major digital platforms managed by the ministry, including the eShram portal, the National Career Service (NCS), and the Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0. So far, over 1,000 registered users have submitted more than 1,300 innovative proposals aimed at simplifying compliance, improving data quality, and enhancing user accessibility. Under the framework of the competition, the top five solutions submitted under each problem statement will be awarded cash prizes, alongside digital certificates for all eligible entrants. Furthermore, winning innovators may be invited to present their technological prototypes directly to senior ministry officials, with select solutions being considered for pilot implementation across national labor delivery systems. The initiative marks a significant push towards integrating artificial intelligence into citizen-centric public service delivery.
