PM Modi Holds Talks with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled to Strengthen India-UAE Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level bilateral meeting with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on September 12, 2026. The meeting, conducted on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit, focused on deepening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and expanding multi-sectoral cooperation across trade, energy, defence, space, and emerging technologies. During the talks, the leaders welcomed major breakthroughs under the bilateral economic relationship, particularly highlighting an announcement by the UAE's International Holding Company (IHC) to invest $11.5 billion in an integrated greenfield aluminium project in Odisha. The investment marks India's largest-ever foreign direct investment in the aluminium sector, poised to establish Odisha as a global manufacturing hub. The two sides also discussed leveraging UAE’s sovereign investment fund L'Imad to scale infrastructure funding, while reiterating commitments under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Prime Minister Modi praised the UAE's active contribution to the BRICS platform, underscoring that regular leadership exchanges reflect enduring trust and generational continuity between the two partner nations.
