Prime Minister Narendra Modi Meets Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sidelines of BRICS Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in New Delhi on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit. This was the second high-level interaction between the two leaders in 2026, following their earlier meeting on the margins of the SCO Summit in Bishkek. During the discussions, both leaders conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral progress across political, economic, defence, energy, space, and skill mobility sectors. They also welcomed the hosting of Russia's INNOPROM India industrial exhibition in New Delhi and personally visited the event to interact with industry participants and business leaders. Beyond bilateral affairs, PM Modi and President Putin exchanged perspectives on global and regional challenges, including ongoing conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea region that have disrupted maritime trade routes and threatened the safety of commercial seafarers. PM Modi reaffirmed India's steadfast position that peaceful dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path forward for resolving international disputes. Concluding the meeting, President Putin formally invited Prime Minister Modi to visit Russia for the upcoming 24th India-Russia Annual Summit.
