Raksha Rajya Mantri Chairs 15th Defence IT Consultative Committee Meeting to Boost Tech Indigenisation

Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth chaired the 15th Defence Information Technology Consultative Committee (DITCC) meeting conducted by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) in New Delhi. The high-level meeting brought together senior officers from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), as well as prominent representatives from academia and industry. The discussions centered on strengthening Aatma-Nirbharta (self-reliance) in military information technology and adopting cutting-edge technological enablers in a time-bound manner. Subject matter experts deliberated on crucial policy decisions regarding the integration of disruptive technologies within defence services to navigate the evolving dynamics of modern warfare. Key agenda items included the indigenisation of advanced semiconductor chip manufacturing, the development of a sovereign Operating System and Database tailored for defence requirements, and the strategic siting of secure data centers. The committee accorded clearance to several strategic projects expected to deliver far-reaching benefits for both the armed forces and India's broader national technological development. This initiative aligns directly with the Union Government's 'Viksit Bharat' vision, aiming to bolster cyber resilience, secure military communications, and build a self-reliant technological ecosystem for national defence.
