A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Bengaluru Police and the Karnataka Drugs Control Department uncovered a massive counterfeit medicine network following a targeted raid on Krupa Healthcare near Minerva Circle in Bengaluru. Authorities arrested the pharmacy's proprietor, Veeresh Kumar Jain, for his alleged involvement in repackaging expired and low-cost drugs with forged labels of major pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Investigators revealed that the operation supplied fake cancer drugs, critical life-saving medications, and ICU injections to more than 90 hospitals and clinics across Bengaluru, offering them at discounts of up to 50 percent off maximum retail prices. Expired and cheap medicines were reportedly transferred into new containers bearing counterfeit labels to mimic genuine products.
The raid is part of an expanding multi-state investigation spanning Karnataka, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Telangana. The SIT was constituted after an initial bust in Ramanagara district exposed a fake drug repackaging unit operating from a farmhouse. Police officials confirmed that bank transaction logs, sales vouchers, and digital records have been confiscated to trace the full supply network and financial transactions involved in the illegal trade.
