Unity College of Physiotherapy Inaugurates New Outpatient Department in Mangaluru

Inaugurated on Thursday, September 10, 2026, Unity College of Physiotherapy opened a new outpatient department (OPD) at its Shediguri campus on Dambel Road in Mangaluru. The facility was formally inaugurated by Dr. Vaishali Sreejith, Senate member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and Principal of M.V. Shetty College of Physiotherapy, alongside Dr. C.P. Habeeb Rahman, Chairman of Unity Academy of Education, and former Mangaluru City Corporation corporator Ganesh Kulal. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sreejith highlighted the critical need for specialized physical therapy services in the surrounding residential neighborhoods. She noted that dedicated rehabilitation options within a four-to-five kilometer radius of Dambel and Shediguri had previously been limited. The newly launched OPD will bridge this gap by providing patient-centric treatment while offering physiotherapy students valuable clinical experience and hands-on practical exposure. Dr. Habeeb Rahman emphasized Unity's commitment to expanding healthcare education and allied health services across the region. The OPD is set to provide specialized treatment for sports injuries, chronic back pain, stroke rehabilitation, postural realignment, post-surgical recovery, joint conditions involving the shoulders and knees, and general mobility enhancement. The launch event was attended by key college officials, including Trustee Ashfaq M. Habeeb, Principal Dr. Sangeetha P., and Head of the Department Dr. Shareef M. The initiative is expected to improve healthcare access by offering affordable physical rehabilitation options to residents of Mangaluru taluk.
