IIT Madras Opens Applications for October 2026 Cohort of 'School Connect' Program

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has officially opened registrations for the October 2026 cohort of its flagship 'School Connect' program. Implemented through the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), the initiative provides secondary and senior secondary students with exposure to emerging academic disciplines and career pathways. In a major expansion this year, the institute has made Class 9 students eligible for the program alongside students in Classes 10, 11, and 12. The program offers introductory online courses spanning 17 diverse fields, including Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Aerospace Engineering, Molecular Engineering, Digital Humanities, Economics, and Architecture. Delivered over eight weeks in an online format, the courses blend pre-recorded video lectures, interactive live sessions, weekly assignments, and computer-based assessments. Courses are currently available in English and Hindi, with modules in seven additional regional languages under active development. According to IIT Madras officials, early exposure to specialized subjects helps younger students make informed decisions regarding their stream choices in Classes 11 and 12, while helping senior students explore higher education options such as non-campus undergraduate programs. Over 1.75 lakh students across 4,900 partner schools have participated since the program's inception. Applications for the October batch remain open until September 30, 2026, with classes scheduled to commence on October 5.
