India's Tech Services Sector Poised for Significant AI-Driven Growth, Cloud Spending to Hit $17.5 Billion by 2026

India's technology services sector is on the cusp of significant expansion, propelled by the burgeoning adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across enterprises. A recent report by Equirus Securities indicates that end-user spending on public cloud services in India is projected to surge by 28.1 percent year-on-year, reaching an estimated $17.5 billion in 2026. This growth is intrinsically linked to the global AI boom, which is leading to a rapid proliferation of colocation data centers. Global demand for these centers is expected to nearly triple from approximately 82 GW in 2025 to about 220 GW by 2030, with AI workloads anticipated to constitute around 70% of total data center demand by the same year. The report highlights India's advantageous position in this global trend, attributing it to the country's vast AI-skilled workforce, cost-competitiveness, and strong digital capabilities. Private equity firms are increasingly encouraging their portfolio companies to establish Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, expanding beyond large multinational corporations to strengthen capabilities in AI, engineering, product development, and analytics. The AI services market in India is already demonstrating substantial traction, generating an estimated $10-12 billion in revenue, with roughly 25% of enterprises transitioning their AI initiatives from pilot stages to full production. Major Indian IT services firms like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCLTech, and LTIMindtree are experiencing robust growth in their domestic businesses, driven by increased Indian enterprise investments in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. This momentum underscores India's evolving role as a strategic hub for AI-led transformation, moving beyond mere experimentation to widespread, impactful deployment of AI technologies.
