Jammu and Kashmir Gears Up for Inaugural International Film Festival with Over 1,100 Entries

Jammu and Kashmir is poised to inaugurate its first-ever International Film Festival (IFFJK) from September 7 to 10, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the region's cultural landscape. The festival has garnered an impressive response, attracting over 1,100 film entries from approximately 50 countries. These submissions span various categories, including International Competition, Short Film, and Bharat Panorama J-K Select. Officials involved in the preparations highlight that the IFFJK, guided by the theme 'Rang-e-Cinema' (Colors of Cinema), aims to serve as a global platform. It intends to showcase Jammu and Kashmir's vibrant heritage, breathtaking scenic beauty, artistic excellence, and its immense potential as a favored destination for film production and collaborative projects. The initiative is expected to bring together filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences, fostering cultural exchange and promoting the region on an international scale. A review meeting, chaired by Director Information Shreya Singhal, was recently held to ensure comprehensive arrangements are in place. Discussions covered crucial aspects such as venue management, delegate facilitation, hospitality, media management, transportation, and technical support, underscoring the commitment to a seamless and successful event. The overwhelming number of entries reflects a strong interest in the festival's vision and its capacity to contribute to the growth of cinema both nationally and internationally.
