Karnataka Cabinet Clears Mega Tech Park in Mangaluru; 11,000 Jobs Expected

The Karnataka cabinet has approved the establishment of a mega tech park in Mangaluru, clearing the way for a project first announced in the state budget and designed specifically to host Global Capability Centres (GCCs). The tech park will come up on 3.285 acres near Blueberry Hills Road in Derebail, less than a kilometre from National Highway 66, and is expected to generate employment for around 11,000 people. Plans include Grade-A office space with meeting rooms, cafeterias, recreation zones and conference facilities — the format global firms expect when placing GCC operations outside metro cities. The project is the centrepiece of the state's plan to make Mangaluru its second technology hub after Bengaluru, leveraging the city's universities, connectivity and lower costs. Officials say bids for developing the park are being invited, with the IT department pushing to move from approval to ground-breaking quickly.
