Karnataka Considers State Teacher Awards for Private Schools and Timing Changes to Mitigate Traffic

Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Madhu Bangarappa announced that the state government is actively considering a proposal to include deserving private school teachers in the state-level teacher awards category. Speaking at the sixth annual Pratibha Puraskar and Teachers' Day celebration organized by the Anekal Taluk Private Schools Federation at Attibele in Bengaluru Urban district, the minister noted that private school educators play an integral role in shaping over one crore students enrolled across the state’s education system. Addressing key concerns raised by private school management associations, Minister Bangarappa highlighted that the government is also examining proposals to modify school operational hours in Bengaluru to reduce severe morning and evening traffic congestion. He confirmed that consultations will be held with the Bengaluru Traffic Police, school management bodies, parents, and transport operators before taking any final decision on adjusting timings by 30 to 60 minutes. Additionally, recommendations regarding the extension of House Rent Allowance (HRA) to aided school staff in Bengaluru Rural district and supplying official state textbooks to private institutions upon payment are under active consideration.
