In a major political and cooperative sector development in Kolar, Kolar MLA Kothur G. Manjunath was elected unopposed as the President of the Kolar-Chikkaballapur District Central Cooperative (DCC) Bank on September 7, 2026. Simultaneously, H.S. Mohan Reddy from Chikkaballapur district was elected as the Vice President.
The election process took place at the DCC Bank premises in Kolar town under the supervision of the returning officer. Only single nomination papers were submitted for both the President and Vice President positions within the stipulated time frame, leading to their unanimous declaration without contest.
Out of the total 19 board members, including 16 elected directors, one nominated director, and two ex-officio officer members, 14 Congress-backed directors supported the leadership move. However, board members including KGF MLA Roopakala Shashidhar and former DCC Bank president Byalahalli Govinda Gowda abstained from the election process. Following the official announcement, Congress party supporters and cooperative members celebrated outside the bank premises by bursting firecrackers and raising victory slogans.
Speaking after his election, MLA Kothur Manjunath acknowledged the current financial challenges facing the cooperative institution and committed to restoring stability, strengthening agricultural credit services, and supporting rural women's self-help groups across Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts.
