Lokayukta Officials Conduct Surprise Inspections Across Seven Gram Panchayats in Dakshina Kannada

Lokayukta officials carried out surprise inspections across seven gram panchayats in Dakshina Kannada district, including Adyar and Permude in Mangaluru taluk, following a suo motu case registered at the Lokayukta headquarters in Bengaluru regarding operational lapses and delayed administrative services. The coordinated operation also targeted Pudu, Mani, and Golthamajalu gram panchayats in Bantwal taluk, alongside Kuvettu and Madanthyar gram panchayats located in Belthangady taluk. The extensive checks were executed under the supervision of Mangaluru division Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar. Multiple inspection teams comprising Deputy Superintendents of Police and Inspectors from Mangaluru, Udupi, and Karwar divisions simultaneously entered the panchayat offices to review ongoing administrative operations. During the searches, officials scrutinized key official records, including citizen service applications, tax assessment registers, building plan approvals, and documentation related to fund utilization under the 15th Finance Commission. The inspecting teams uncovered various procedural deficiencies, maintenance lapses, and delays in processing public requests across several offices. Officials recorded these findings and gathered necessary documentary evidence. A comprehensive investigation report detailing all identified shortcomings and administrative irregularities will be compiled and submitted to the Karnataka Lokayukta headquarters for further legal and administrative proceedings against negligent personnel.
