Police Raid Farm in Aurad's Khandikeri Village, Seize Ganja Plants Worth Over ₹30 Lakh

In a major law enforcement operation against illegal drug cultivation, the Aurad-B police raided an agricultural field in Khandikeri village of Aurad taluk, Bidar district. The police officers discovered and seized 100 illegally grown green ganja (cannabis) plants weighing approximately 60.43 kg. The total market value of the confiscated contraband has been estimated at ₹30,21,500. One suspect involved in cultivating the crop on farmland without authorization was taken into custody and remanded to judicial detention. The operation was conducted under the leadership and direction of Bidar District Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti (IPS), Additional SP Chandrakant Pujari, and Bhalki Sub-Division DySP Ballappa Nandaganvi. Following credible intelligence regarding illicit drug farming in rural fields, a police team led by Aurad-B Circle Inspector Raghuveersingh Thakur and PSI Waseem Patel inspected the location. The uprooting and physical seizure of the cannabis plants were carried out in the presence of the Aurad Tahsildar, who acted as the designated gazetted officer during the proceedings. Police authorities have registered a formal case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for illegal cultivation and possession. SP Pradeep Gunti appreciated the prompt action of the Aurad-B police personnel involved in the raid. Local residents in Aurad taluk have expressed relief over the crackdown, emphasizing that stringent police vigilance is crucial to prevent illicit crop operations on rural farmlands across the district.
