India Accelerates Sovereign AI Push with Massive GPU Deployment and Indigenous Model Development

India is making significant strides in its commitment to developing a sovereign artificial intelligence ecosystem, marked by a substantial investment in compute infrastructure and the promotion of indigenous AI models. Under the broad umbrella of the IndiaAI Mission, the government has approved the deployment of over 38,000 Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), which are crucial for training and running complex AI models.
