Karnataka Cabinet Sanctions ₹30 Crore for New Vegetable Market in Chintamani

In a major boost to civic infrastructure and agricultural trade in Chikkaballapur district, the Karnataka State Cabinet has officially sanctioned ₹30 crore for the establishment of a modern vegetable market within the Chintamani Municipal Council limits. The decision was approved during a state cabinet meeting chaired in Bengaluru, addressing long-standing infrastructure demands from local farmers and commercial vendors in Chintamani taluk. Chintamani is one of the primary agrarian and commercial hubs in the district, known for its high-volume cultivation and trading of tomatoes, leafy greens, and various vegetables. However, the existing vending spaces have suffered from severe space constraints, lack of adequate sanitation, and traffic congestion during peak hours. The sanctioned fund of ₹30 crore will be utilized to construct a modern, structured market yard equipped with vending stalls, proper drainage systems, waste management units, and dedicated parking spaces for transport vehicles and visitors. For residents, farmers, and traders in Chintamani taluk, this administrative approval marks a key development. Farmers arriving from surrounding rural villages to sell their daily produce will benefit from organized vending facilities and improved hygienic conditions.
