Mangaluru's 164-Year-Old Historic Court Building to Be Replaced by Modern Judicial Complex

Mangaluru is on the cusp of a major infrastructural transformation as its historic 164-year-old court building prepares for demolition. This decision will lead to the construction of a modern, five-storey judicial complex, aiming to significantly upgrade the city's legal infrastructure and provide enhanced facilities for judges, lawyers, and the public. The redevelopment project, with an estimated cost of ₹60.2 crore, has secured administrative approval, and the tender process has been successfully concluded. While the official commencement of demolition awaits the foundation stone laying ceremony and all necessary regulatory clearances, construction is anticipated to begin following the monsoon season. Authorities are also carefully considering the preservation of historically significant elements, particularly from the central courtroom, with discussions underway to either salvage these components or integrate them thoughtfully into the design of the new complex.
