MP Kageri Sets March 2027 Deadline to Complete Sirsi-Haveri National Highway Work

Member of Parliament Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri has directed contractors and officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to expedite the completion of the pending Sirsi-Haveri National Highway project by March 2027. Reviewing the slow progress of the highway work during a coordination meeting with NHAI representatives, state highway officials, and project contractors at his office, MP Kageri stressed that all remaining infrastructure tasks must be completed without further delay to ensure seamless vehicular movement before the next monsoon. The delayed works along this crucial transport corridor include completing a 21-kilometer road stretch, constructing a major bridge, installing 29 culvert drains, and undertaking road widening across five key locations. The Sirsi-Haveri Highway serves as a vital arterial route connecting Haveri district and Haveri taluk to the Malnad region and coastal Karnataka. Commuters and local residents have faced severe hardships during recent rains due to muddy patches and delayed construction. MP Kageri assured that full-scale construction work would resume by the first week of October following monsoon lulls. He instructed officials to ensure that temporary maintenance is carried out so that commuters do not face disruption in the interim. The completion of this highway is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity, cut travel times, and boost local trade and transport for residents, farmers, and businesses in Haveri.
