NIELIT and Intel India Launch National Agentic AI Skilling Initiative for Youth

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in partnership with Intel India, officially launched a landmark nationwide Agentic AI skilling initiative on September 3, 2026. Unveiled during a National Leadership Dialogue titled "Preparing the Future Workforce for the Agentic AI Era" in New Delhi, the program seeks to equip students, educators, and professionals across the country with hands-on capabilities in autonomous artificial intelligence systems. The initiative introduces two core learning tracks: "Agentic AI for Everyone" and "Engineering Agentic AI Systems." Unlike traditional generative or predictive AI models that focus primarily on text and image generation, Agentic AI systems possess advanced reasoning, multi-step planning, and autonomous execution abilities under human supervision. The curricula emphasize workflow automation, multi-agent orchestration, tool integration, and practical business decision-making. This national initiative supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to skill one crore youth in artificial intelligence over the coming year. Implemented across NIELIT's nationwide network of centers, the courses bring together government agencies, industry leaders, sovereign AI builders, and academia to create an industry-aligned workforce. As enterprises rapidly transition toward autonomous AI operations, this skilling framework aims to position India as a global leader in next-generation technology talent and digital transformation.
