PM Modi Inaugurates 7th Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, Highlighting Agentic AI and Digital Infrastructure

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 7th edition of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai on September 8, 2026. The four-day flagship event, jointly organized by the Payments Council of India (PCI), National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and Fintech Convergence Council (FCC) with support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), brings together global tech leaders, financial innovators, and policymakers. Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India's rapid rise as a global fintech leader, powered by population-scale Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) such as Aadhaar and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). He emphasized how emerging technologies like Agentic AI, tokenisation, and quantum computing are revolutionizing financial services and unlocking new economic opportunities for citizens across all income brackets. Furthermore, the Prime Minister called on the fintech industry to work collectively towards building robust cybersecurity frameworks, ethical data protection standards, and strong consumer protection safeguards. The conference, themed 'Potential to Impact: Agentic AI and Inclusive Growth,' serves as a premier international platform to discuss digital sovereignty, AI governance, cross-border payments, and financial inclusion, solidifying India's position at the forefront of global technological innovation.
