Two Arrested in Connection with Tavandi Murder Case near Nippani

Belagavi district police have arrested two young men from Maharashtra in connection with the murder of a 52-year-old man in Nippani taluk. The victim, identified as Mohammad Shamsheer Khalif from Hole Hitni village in Kolhapur district, was found dead on a hill near Tavandi village within the Nippani Rural Police station limits. The arrested individuals have been identified as 22-year-old Yuvaraj Virupaksha Munnoli and 21-year-old Swapnil Shivanand Rampure. According to police sources, the incident stemmed from personal enmity following a dispute over a relationship. The accused allegedly lured the victim to the isolated Tavandi hill under the pretext of holding a discussion. During an ensuing altercation, the suspects attacked him with a weapon and a heavy stone before escaping from the scene. Following a complaint filed by the victim's wife at the Nippani Rural Police Station, Belagavi Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan constituted a special investigation team comprising local police officers. Acting on credible intelligence, the special squad tracked the suspects to Pune, Maharashtra, where both individuals were apprehended and brought back to Nippani for questioning. Law enforcement officials confirmed that formal legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused. The swift resolution of the case has brought reassurance to residents of Tavandi and surrounding rural areas in Nippani taluk regarding local police vigilance and cross-border coordination.
