The Karnataka government has officially invited global technology companies, startups, researchers, and venture investors to collaborate on developing its proposed 'Quantum City' project as an international center for deep-tech research and industry innovation. State Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science, and Technology, Ajay Dharam Singh, announced the initiative during a high-level roundtable conference on Space, Mobility, and Drones held in Bengaluru.
Addressing industry leaders, Minister Singh emphasized that the state government aims to engage private industry, academic institutions, and startup founders from the early conceptual stages to build a resilient deep-tech ecosystem. The proposed Quantum City is designed as a collaborative platform where researchers and enterprise leaders can transform cutting-edge scientific concepts into commercially viable technologies across quantum computing, SpaceTech, DroneTech, artificial intelligence, and geospatial analytics.
The initiative aligns with the state's broader economic agenda, including the Karnataka Space Technology Policy 2025-30, which aims to capture 50 percent of India's space market and attract $3 billion in investments by 2033. Minister Singh highlighted that advanced technology adoption must deliver practical benefits to society, citing the state's ongoing use of AI, drones, and satellite mapping for groundwater management, lake rejuvenation, and irrigation monitoring.
By encouraging global technology firms to build, test, and scale their innovations from Karnataka, the administration aims to solidify Bengaluru's position as a premier global hub for emerging deep-tech frontiers.
