Food Safety Officials Shut Down Chairman's Club Kitchen in Bengaluru Over Hygiene Violations

In a continuation of its statewide crackdown on food safety and hygiene violations, the Food Safety Wing of Karnataka's Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration sealed the kitchen facility of Chairman's Club in Sahakaranagar, Bengaluru. The regulatory action was ordered following a surprise inspection led by food safety officers based on public complaints regarding poor food standards in major hospitality and recreation establishments across the city. During the raid, inspectors seized 40 kg of expired chilli powder stored in the facility for culinary use, along with 5 kg of breadcrumbs and 2 kg of sajeera that lacked mandatory FSSAI labeling declarations. Officials also reported alarming hygiene deficiencies across food preparation and storage zones, including the prohibited joint storage of raw vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, as well as the presence of unapproved artificial food dyes. Citing severe risks to public health, officials immediately ordered the closure of the club's kitchen and initiated legal action against the management under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
