In a distressing incident highlighting food safety negligence in Afzalpur town of Kalaburagi district, worms were found in the morning breakfast served to municipal civic workers on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The substandard food was distributed around 8:30 AM to approximately 70 civic service workers (pourakarmikas) who perform essential sanitation and public hygiene duties across the Afzalpur Town Municipal Council limits.
Outraged by the poor quality and unhygienic state of the meal, Santosh Chalavadi, Taluk President of the Civic Service Employees' Association, issued a press statement condemning the incident.
